What is included with the Hybrid Micro Server?

The Hybrid Micro Server is a Dell-rebranded server that is used to store data locally onsite and then synchronize to the DRIVE.SPACE cloud servers for redundancy. Each plan package comes with two Hybrid Micro Servers that work in tandem and provide high-availability.

How fast is my CONNECTION to my data?

The Hybrid Micro Servers are equipped with 1GB ethernet connections and can support up to 10GB connections if required. Your cloud connection depends entirely upon your ISP speed, local network connection and state of system you are using.

Is my data Secure?

🔐 Your Data Security: In Transit and At Rest

We prioritize your trust and confidence by securing your data with the industry-leading standards: TLS for securing connections and AES for encrypting storage.

🚀 Securing Data In Transit: The TLS Connection

When your data moves between your computer and our servers (for example, when you log in or submit a form), it is secured by Transport Layer Security (TLS). Think of TLS as an impenetrable, encrypted tunnel. We use the most modern and secure versions (like TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3).

1. The Secure Handshake 🤝

Before any data is exchanged, your browser and our server perform a "handshake" to establish trust and agree on the rules.

  • Identity Check: Our server presents a Digital Certificate (like a high-security ID card) issued by a trusted third party. This proves we are who we say we are, preventing impersonation.

  • Key Agreement: Your system and ours then collaboratively create a unique, secret key for this single session. This is the key used to scramble and unscramble all the data that follows.

  • Benefit: Trust: You know you are connecting to the legitimate service, not a fraudster.

2. Powerful Encryption: AES Symmetric Encryption

Once the secure tunnel is established, all your transmitted data is locked down using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).

  • Speed and Strength: AES is the global standard and is so strong that it's used by governments and financial institutions worldwide. It is incredibly fast and efficient for bulk data transfer.

  • Forward Secrecy: We use advanced key agreement techniques to ensure that even if someone were to somehow compromise our long-term keys in the future, they still couldn't decrypt past recorded traffic. Every session is safe.

🧱 Securing Data At Rest: The AES Standard

"Data at rest" is your information when it is stored on our servers, databases, or backup media. We use AES-256 encryption—the highest level available—to lock this data down.

1. AES-256: The Gold Standard 🥇

  • The Key Size: We use a 256-bit key, which is exponentially more secure than the minimum standards. To put it simply, breaking this encryption would take a modern supercomputer billions of years.

  • Comprehensive Coverage: Your data remains encrypted even when stored on backups, disk drives, or in the cloud environment. It is useless to anyone without the decryption key.

2. Strict Key Management 🔑

Encryption is only as good as the management of the keys. We implement rigorous controls:

  • Key Isolation: The encryption keys are stored separately from the encrypted data in highly secured systems (like a secure digital vault).

  • Restricted Access: Only necessary, authenticated internal processes can access the keys to perform decryption, ensuring human access is strictly limited and audited.
